My Dinner with Friends

women sipping wineI went to dinner with some female friends this evening. The wine and conversation flowed freely. Dinner exemplified the points of a class that I am taking. For instance, it was interesting to observe how my friends and I are more alike than we are different. I realize that these women are my friends. Yes, I know that like attracts like. However, I believe most people on the planet share the same similarities. Most of us are interested in better lives. The variable is just HOW focused, passionate, and conscious we are of what we want. In my humble opinion, many of us as women tend to focus on everyone else before we take care of ourselves. Maybe the tendency is hard-wired into our DNA. Perhaps as we get older, we FINALLY start thinking more about what WE want and not what everyone in our lives needs or wants.

But I digress…

My point is that if you are ever in need of oxygen on a plane (not a good thing), the best way tooxygen masks deal with the situation would be for you to use the oxygen mask that the flight attendant so diligently instructed you to use BEFORE you attempt to give oxygen to your seatmate! That would make the most sense.

The course I am taking is a great reminder for me to focus consciously on what I want in order  to attain the desired result. It provides oxygen to my soul. It moves my subconscious to support me and to supply me with the results I enthusiastically and passionately acclaim. What a support system! All it takes is perfect practice!. I realize that the only way to get rid of a habit is with a new habit.  I realize the importance of surrounding myself with people who support me – people of like mind. It has been said that we are all the average of the sum of the five people we hang around with the most. Who are you hanging out with? Who is YOUR tribe?

If you don’t have supporters, find them. If you have supporters, tell them how much you appreciate them. All things are possible when we are in perfect harmony!

As Mr. Rohn so eloquently asked,

If not now, when?

If not YOU, who?

Lessons I learned from Columbus

The Start of a long Columbus Day Weekend

ColumbusAs I write this, it is Friday – the start of a long Columbus Day Weekend. I find that very apropos. Think about it. Captain Columbus headed west thinking he would reach the Indies. When he reaches land, he believes he has reached his intended destination. Wow! Does this sound familiar! There is no question mark at the end of the previous sentence because it is so obviously rhetorical! Let’s put aside my sense of direction which I have already referenced in a previous blog. My geographically- challenged excursions aside, we ALL have had the experience of being lost. If not, you need to get out more!

But I digress….

Rainbow over WaterLet’s look at this. Metaphorically speaking, how many of us have started out in a particular direction, followed the path we have set out for ourselves to the letter – only to find out that we are terribly off course. What I am talking about here is  a something that my paisano Christoforo Colombo and I have in common. We are discovering new lands – places that we could not have visualized because we didn’t know what we didn’t know.

For me, I’m discovering new things about myself. The course that I am taking with trainer Mark J challenges us to come up with our personal pivotal needs (PPN’s). I assumed (you know what they say about assuming) that my personal pivotal needs were the same as they have been for awhile – liberty and legacy – the PPN’s I arrived at via a previous course. I’ve discovered that I already have liberty. I am an entrepreneur – a network marketer. I work when I want, if I want, with whom I want.

I still feel very strongly that I want to leave a legacy, but I have discovered a have a need recognition for creative expression.  Who knew? I have always considered myself creative, but I didn’t see that one coming.

I am excited to see what else I discover on this journey to uncharted territory!

My aha moment as I write this is how quickly the words poured out. Mark J is correct. . Much can be accomplished in little time with focus.  I am eager to master the technology piece.

Stay tuned!

Lessons I Learned from the North South Trail

NorthSouth Trail SignI have just started a Master Keys Master Mind Alliance class. Since traveling is one of my favorite things to do on the planet, I am referring  to this class as my journey. Although, it is not a physical journey, it is still a journey. It is just a different type. It just so happens that my husband Alan is also preparing for a journey. He is preparing to hike the Appalachian Trail and walk from Atlanta to Maine in one shot. He has started getting into AT shape. Two weeks ago, he hiked the North- South Trail walking 78 miles in four days. He is not ready to hike all 2,176 miles in five months. How will he get into shape, you ask. He is taking shorter hikes. It’s the old “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” adage. Cliché, but SO true!

But I digress…

My point is that I am starting a journey just as challenging, maybe more so. The difference is that the real estate I will be hiking is located between my ears – pretty rough terrain if you ask me. We are all creatures of our habits. The cement overlay is settled and solid. I am chipping away at the old cement to uncover what lies within. Being of a certain vintage (as I like to say), I agree with Og Mandino when he says that the value of experience is overrated, usually by old men and women who nod wisely and speak stupidly. We have heard the quotation: It’s not the years in your life; it’s the life in your years. Are you noticing a theme here?

JiminyCricketWishingUponAStarWhat is the best way to live the best possible life in the years that have been allotted to me? Jiminy Cricket told us we could wish upon a star, but wishing and hoping is NOT a strategy. When I was a child, it made sense. Now, not so much! While I love Jiminy, I need a plan. Alan doesn’t expect to complete the AT by wishing and hoping that he is in shape, or disciplined, or going in the right direction. He is doing everything he possibly can to get the outcome he so passionately desires. In order to acquire the results that I desire, I am following a strategy.

Just as my husband needs a map to complete the AT, I need a map to complete my journey.Sun Peaking Through Trees Right now, this class is the map I am following. It resonates loudly with me. In life, geography is not my strong point. Those who know me well are laughing hysterically at such an understatement of one of my most obvious shortcomings. I have my share of them; but if you have ever followed me to a destination, this one is obvious. I received a full scholarship to college, but I was given a “D” in geography. I disclose this to make a point. I am fairly well traveled. I rely on those with skills far greater than mine to get me to the destinations I am passionate about visiting.

I will rely on the Master Keys  to provide a roadmap as I navigate my journey of discovery. The map is here. I am disciplined to do the work. I am excited.

Let the journey begin.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our Gloria Gemma Fundraiser a BIG Success!

Team Qivana would like to thank everyone who sponsored a tee sign, donated something for our raffle, sent in a donation, or came for a night of pizza and golf! We raised $1,249 at the event for The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation, AND the donations keep coming in! Everyone had a LOT of fun! The event was such a success that we have already scheduled our 2014 Mini Golf Tournament. It will be held August 14, 2014, so save the date! You’ll have plenty of time to practice your swing!

Here’s a clip of the evening.

Musings While on Vacation

As you can see from the video, it is indeed a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I am on vacation on “the Cape.”. To those of you who are not New Englanders, that would be Cape Cod! You would have a tough time finding a New Englander who actually says, “Cape Cod!” What I love about this industry called network marketing is that I can be making money anytime, anywhere – even while walking the beach in Provincetown, MA. I am very grateful for that.

If you are not familiar with network marketing, you owe it to yourself to learn about it and explore the possibilities of how it can impact your life. I am a BIG advocate of the industry, just like Robert Kiyosaki, and Warren Buffet. My company of choice is Qivana. It is in pre-momentum. What is important is that you check out the industry yourself and see if it makes sense for you. You can supplement your income in addition to whatever you are doing. You can work toward a complete life change. Find something you can do to work toward changing whatever it is you want to change.

As Mr. Rohn said:

If you don’t change, nothing will change.

If not now, when?
If not you, who?

It really is up to YOU.
